On September 18th, I had the honor of attending LPA Expo 2025 as a volunteer representing both Epic Flight Academy and as part of the LPA ARG A&P team. What an incredible few days it turned out to be—filled with networking, learning, and celebrating the aviation community that continues to inspire me.
Town Hall & Welcome Reception
The expo kicked off with a town hall, where I met a few great people—some from the Air Force, others in real estate—all united by a shared passion for aviation. Later that evening, the welcome reception was buzzing with energy. I spent time talking to airline pilots, recruiters, and aspiring CFIs.
What stood out most was hearing from several Spirit Airlines pilots who had just received letters that they were being let go. It was a sobering reminder of the volatility in the industry, but also of the resilience and determination of aviation professionals to keep pushing forward.
Expo Day: The Big Rush
Expo day itself was intense. By mid-morning, the floor was crowded with lines of people in suits and ties, rushing to get face time with airline recruiters who might open the door to their next big opportunity.
Instead of focusing on the major airlines, I chose to spend my time with smaller businesses. My best conversations were with Cirrus Aircraft and Avemco Insurance. Both really resonated with me, especially because of my long-term goal of pursuing a career in business aviation. Their perspective, flexibility, and vision aligned closely with where I see myself headed.
I also updated my LinkedIn profile photo with a quick photoshoot, made even more valuable with the networking opportunities that came throughout the day.
Gala Night & Scholarship Presentation
After the expo closed at 4 PM, I waited for the gala to begin at 7. The gala was excellent—great food, great company, and an atmosphere filled with pride for our community.
One of the highlights of my aviation journey happened that night: I was honored to present a full A&P scholarship from Epic Flight Academy to recipient John Mejia. This was the same scholarship I received two years ago, and being able to hand it forward was an emotional, full-circle moment. I told John the same thing I was told: “This will change your life forever—just as it changed mine.”
After the scholarship ceremony, the dance floor came alive. Salsa, conga lines, and pure joy carried the night. The sense of community and celebration was something I’ll never forget.
The After Party
To close it all out, DPA hosted the after party. It was fun, energetic, and the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable LPA Expo.
Final Thoughts
From networking with aviation leaders and peers, to presenting a life-changing scholarship, LPA Expo 2025 was more than just an industry event for me—it was a reminder of why I fell in love with aviation in the first place. The people, the energy, the opportunities, and the shared passion for flight made it an experience I’ll carry with me for years to come.
